Here we have the main host of Graveyard Carz, Mark. The premise of the show is the same as every other car shop / restoration project operation. They specialize in Dodge/Plymouth which I think is cool (rather than every single type of car from here to there). There's a lot of specific and unusual information even.
So what's the gimmick? Why do they have a show? Mark- he's the gimmick. I'm hoping it's just for the show but he is the single biggest disrespectful tool I've ever seen. Does he know his shit? Yeah, like scarily. He could probably tell you the carb inlet diameter of a 19xx Cuda. But watch the show for 10 minutes and count how many times he talks himself up and insults/threatens his co-workers. Yeah it's BS like "I'll bash your face in monkey because you used the wrong washer." But it is CONSTANT. You can't watch a segment without them focusing on him insulting them instead of the car itself. Everyone remembers the trainwreck that American Chopper became in the later seasons? At least they made it look like they were going to start throwing motorcycles at each other one day. Watching Mark is like watching a Kmart store manager boss around minimum wage high school part timers while getting his jolleys off by strutting his pseudo power about the aisles of outdated food and As Seen on TV.
With that being said and on a scale of 1 to 5 stripped bolts (1 being tolerable and 5 being God awful) - I give Graveyard Carz a 4 out of 5. You may know your dodges but your personality is that of a week old bologna sandwich left out in the sun of a balmy August afternoon.

... made it look like they were going to start throwing motorcycles at each other one day...
The show was still kinda good after they brought it back for a little while after the first cancellation. But it just wasn't the same.

I respectfully disagree. This guy is worse.
All he does is bitch and complain and uses "I'm old" as an excuse for everything.

He is pretty bad too. I feel bad for the sun in law.. But only a little. He's not the brightest, and he does instigate quite a bit.. and is a slacked.. hell they're all terrible.
velocity has turned to crap lately. Though there is one of the shows where the owner is former military, does a lot for vets, and is out of Norfolk VA- which is basically my back yard. its a lot less drama and more about the cars. They do tours so I may go out there one day and post a review.

I stopped watching when it was nothing but them going at it. Every episode became text book and it wasn't about the bikes anymore. I did chime back in for a while when Jr had his own place and was pretty established. still seemed very scripted though.

Have you ever worked in an automotive shop full of guys? This is NOTHING compared to what goes on behind the scenes when the cameras are off.... also you are seeing WEEKS of work squeezed into less than an hour of TV. Do you honestly think they are like that to each other ALL the time?
Well, maybe, but they're friends, co-workers, old farts who have been at it for years.
And that's how it is in every shop I've worked at. At the end they still all get along.

Oh yeah it did. I kinda stopped when it became that major shit show and switched to Deadliest Catch. It was alright at the end but it wasn't how it used to be.

I actually don't mind Bitchin Rides either. By the name, it would seem Fast N' Loudish, but it is alright.

That guy is a massive tool. His work is grade A, but his personality is so abrasive that I can't stand to watch his show.

So is he as big an asshole as Gordon Ramsay?

Yes and no. Getting insulted by Ramsay is like getting kicked in the nuts by the Queen. Getting insulted by this guy would be like getting flicked in the ear by the kid in class that has to ask a question every time to prof says "any questions?"

He's got such a bad case of short man's syndrome that even Napoleon would tell him to calm the fuck down.

I don't know the show, and honestly I'm glad I don't get to watch a lot of 'Murican shows.. What gets me most about those shows that are 'almost good' like Street Outlaws (I know it's fake as ... , but the cars are cool, so there's that) is the same, annoying, rehashed, WRONG sounds effects that are used in EVERY DAMN SHOW... The 'indycar fly-by noise ' and the (this is the worst) 'peeling off tire noise'. Nothing breaks immersion more than those unnecessary awful sound effects

I HATE the fake drama of this show. It's just too damn much. I realize even Boyd Cottingtons show had the fake drama element, but this show is just over the top. I much prefer Legendary Motorcar.

Just like Boyd Coddington and this jerk, it's what sells on TV. The only car show I like is Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carrini. This Mark guy thinks he is tough. He's an old, washed up man that thinks he is tough. IMO.

So, this may be false memory on my part, but does it seem that all of these car and motorcycle show guys always have pictures of them scowling with their arms folded?

Him and his buddy both have intolerable personalities, I hope they're just putting on an act for the cameras. The show in cringe-worthy. One of the few things on Velocity that I simply will not watch.

I quit watching when it was all about the fighting too. I came back one day when nothing was on and was confused bc jr had his own shop. But every episode seemed forced and they kept bringing in unnecessary jr/sr drama. Also, sr shrank from big buff guy to skeleton real quick. My guess is drugs.

The carfix (I think that's the title) guys don't. They even mock it in the intro. They do the scowl and arms folded and then start laughing.

What is up with that street outlaws show? I can't believe any of it but the cars are ridiculous.

Fun fact: Napoleon was 5'7". Relatively short by today's standards but tall back in his time. My history teacher in high school implied the Napoleon complex stereotype came about because he had a small penis and not from his height.

I've got no idea. I think the races are real. On real roads, that are closed off and they have permits for. I guess they approached some shops to get a group together and have a flimsy script for the not race bits. I enjoy it though. They are real car guys with some insane cars.

They have to have permits. There's no way discovery would risk the legal issues. One of my clients was recently on a reality show. She said it drove her nuts how often they would stop things to reshoot for better audio/angles/reactions/etc. there's no way with all those people, cars, lights, cameras, audio equipment, etc they can be stealthy enough and unpack and repackage all that gear quickly enough to escape cops.
